Following the arrests of numerous protesters at the University of Texas at Austin, the Travis County Attorney's Office has announced that 46 cases have been dismissed. The arrests occurred during a demonstration on campus, resulting in legal concerns raised by defense counsel. A spokesperson for the prosecutor's office, Diana Melendez, stated that they reviewed each case individually and found deficiencies in the probable cause affidavits.
As a result of the court's order, the protesters were released. Melendez emphasized that the office will continue to assess all cases brought to them to determine the appropriateness of prosecution based on factual and legal considerations.
