Bhopal: The temperature in the state again shot up to unbearable levels on Friday. Highest temperature in the state was 47 degrees while in Bhopal it was close to 45 degrees mark. Several places reeled under the heat wave. Possibility of respite is dismal for the next few days.
Officials of the meteorological department, Bhopal circle said, there is a trough over west Rajasthan to Vidarbha. But it would not give any respite from heat. The temperature in the state would start going down due to a western disturbance which is expected to have its impact around May 22. The temperatures would rise till then, officials added.
The day temperature in Bhopal on Friday was recorded at 44.3 degrees celsius, three degrees more than normal mark, while night temperature in the city was 28.4 degrees celsius, two degrees more than normal mark. Wind direction in the city was south westerly and average wind speed was 12 kilometers per hour. The temperature of Bhopal was the third highest of the season. Before this, 45.1 degrees was recorded on May 13 and 44.4 degrees was recorded on May 14.
Highest temperature in the state was recorded at 47 degrees celsius in Khajuraho, Damoh and Naogaon.
In the forecast for Bhopal on Saturday the meteorological officials said, there would be cloudy sky and dry weather will prevail in the state. Day and night temperature in the city would be respectively at 44 degrees celsius and 27 degrees celsius.
In the forecast for the state meteorological officials issued warning of heat waves for places including Rewa division and for Datia, Guna, Bhind, Gwalior, Damoh and Chhatarpur districts. The weather would be dry over remaining places in the state.
