45 new Covid infections in Madhya Pradesh after 60 days, active cases at 219

BHOPAL: On Wednesday, it was nearly after two months that more than 45 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Madhya Pradesh in a single day as 45 people tested positive. Only 7,763 samples were tested in the state. Prior to this, it was on March 14 when more than 40 new cases were reported in a single day as 51 had tested positive then.

Against the 45 new Covid-19 cases, only 26 people recovered from the disease on Wednesday. Thus the number of active patients increased to 219 on May 11, from 200 reported on May 10 and 136 on March 31.

New infections were reported from as many as 12 of the 52 districts of the state. Ten new cases were reported from Morena, seven each from Gwalior and Guna, six from Shivpuri, three each from Bhopal, Hoshangabad and Indore districts and two from Jabalpur district. Datia, Raisen, Rajgarh and Shajapur districts reported one positive case each.

Positivity rate has shot up to 0.5% in the state. Positivity rate is the number of people testing positive out of every 100 samples tested. The 26 recoveries took the count of recoveries so far in the state from Covid-19 to 10,30,838.
