44-year-old man charged in relation to death in Alice Springs

The charges follow a fatal incident in the early hours of Friday morning.

A third person has been charged in relation to the death of a 36-year-old man at a home in Alice Springs on Friday morning.

Serious Crime Squad detectives arrested the 44-year-old man on Sunday and he has been charged with engaging in violent conduct and accessory after the fact to murder.

The charges relate to a fatal incident at an Alice Springs home in the suburb of Gillen at about 2:30am on Friday morning.

Police attended the scene following reports of more than a dozen people "fighting with weapons" at the house.

On Friday, Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Maley said officers found the man with life-threatening injuries and gave him first aid but were unable to revive him and he died at the scene.

On Sunday, a 39-year-old Alice Springs man was charged with murder and a 40-year-old man was charged with accessory after the fact to murder, incitement to commit a crime and engaging in violent conduct in relation to the same incident.

The 44-year-old appeared before the Alice Springs Local Court earlier today and has been remanded in custody to appear before court on September 3, 2020.

The 39-year-old man and 40-year-old man also appeared before local court today and have both been remanded in custody to appear before court on September 3, 2020.
