430 grams of MDMA seized in Nelson Bay Road traffic stop at Salt Ash

A ROUTINE traffic stop at Port Stephens has led police to seize a commercial quantity of MDMA.

A 24-year-old man is due to face Newcastle Local Court on Friday after Port Stephens-Hunter Highway Patrol officers stopped his vehicle on Nelson Bay Road at Salt Ash about 1.30pm on Thursday.

Police allege the main returned a positive result to a roadside drug test, leading them to search the vehicle.

The highway patrol officers seized 430 grams of MDMA and almost $2000 in cash as a result of the search.

Officers arrested the man and took him to Raymond Terrace police station.

He was charged with supply commercial quantity of prohibited drug, and deal with proceeds of crime.

The 24-year-old was refused bail.
