40 stone man who ate 11,000 calories a day drops half his body weight and gets a girlfriend

Good Morning Britain fans were stunned today as a man who lost 20 stone in a year appeared on the show.

Dibsy - whose real name is Darren McClintock - weighed 40 stone when personal trained Mike Hind decided to take him on as a client for free.

Mike said: "Each year I take someone for free and try and change their life.

"Dibsy's mum came to see me and said 'I don't want to bury my son' and it really was a matter of life or death."

Mike took the drastic measure of going round to all the local takeaways Dibsy frequented and put up a poster of him, captioned "Do not serve this man."

Dibsy was consuming 11,000 calories a day, as he scoffed sausage sandwiches, McDonald's and numerous takeaways throughout the day.

He admitted he was eating all the wrong things and that Mike's posters made sure he wasn't tempted to go into his usual fast food haunts.

Now a year later Dibsy has got himself a girlfriend called Jade and dropped to 20 stone.

His next operation is to have his excess skin removed - which trainer Mike believes weighs four stone.

Mike said: "I'm so proud of him, it makes me emotional it does."

Piers and Susanna also congratulated Dibsy on his astonishing weight loss and viewers were also stunned by the results.

Sara said: "I think Dibsy is amazing. He's proof that with the right diet and exercise you can turn your life around."

JD said: "Well done Dibsy."

And Samantha Jane Thomas said: "Bless Dibsy, he has done so well, good on him. Fab personal trainer for caring enough."

*GMB continues tomorrow at 6am on ITV
