40 new Covid cases in Uttar Pradesh, zero cases in 48 districts

LUCKNOW: The pattern of decline in daily cases of coronavirus infection continued on Monday with just 40 new cases being reported in the state.

According to official data, cases were reported across 20 districts. Of the total, Lucknow recorded a maximum of six cases.

Seven districts are now free from Covid-19 with all active cases recovering. Shamli is the latest addition to the list comprising Aligarh, Chitrakoot, Hathras, Kasganj, Mahoba and Shrawasti.

Data also showed that the state was left with 1,188 active cases of which more than 850 are under home isolation. As many as 50 districts have 20 or fewer active cases while Lucknow (113), Kushinagar (104) and Prayagraj (90) belong to the list of districts with more than 75 active cases.

The pandemic virus killed seven persons in the past 24 hours taking the total to 22,728.

Meanwhile, officials cautioned people against any drop in guard in the wake of the anticipated third wave.
