A mass brawl between a group of men using knives, bottles and a sword has been broken up by police in west London.

The Metropolitan Police said officers were dispatched to reports of a fight involving up to 40 males in King Street, Southall, at about 12.20am on Sunday.

They chased two men into nearby St Johns Road, the force said in a statement on Sunday afternoon.

Officers said initially that two people had been identified as carrying swords.

In an updated statement later in the day, the Met said "at least one sword" had been used during the disturbance.

Two men, both in their 20s, have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and affray.

Both remained in police custody on Sunday evening.

There were no reports of any injuries, despite the scale of the brawl and the variety of weapons used.

Detectives are calling on anyone who might have seen the fight to come forward.

Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting reference 136/17jan.

Alternatively, to stay anonymous, contact the charity Crimestoppers online via crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling freephone 0800 555 111.
