An investigation is underway after a number of homes were affected by a fire at Lon Tanyrallt in Alltwen, Pontardawe.

On Monday morning Alltwen councillor Christopher John Jones said he and others will be at Alltwen Rugby Club helping those affected by the blaze.

He said: “We’re all just pulling together, trying to get the families back on track. Our first priority is to rehouse them, and donations are coming in, and we’re going to try and get them back to some sort of normality in the next couple of days.”

On Sunday Sioned Williams MS for South Wales West said: "Awful news about the house fires in Alltwen tonight. Nobody was hurt thank goodness. I will be at Alltwen Rugby Club from 9.30am tomorrow with Cllr Chris Jones, the Local Area Co-ordinator Kirstie Richards and Chair of Cilybebyll Community Council Cllr Marcia Spooner, to ensure the families get all the support they need."

A fundraising page has also been set up to help those affected by the fire, and has already raised £3,500.

On Sunday one person said on social media: "Houses on fire in Alltwen. Lon tanyrallt. Everyone is out, think it's four houses."

Another added: "If anyone suffering after the Alltwen fire needs any women's clothing/shoes or is willing to pick up items for them as I can't drive, I'm more than happy to donate stock."
