40 fantastic photos of elite runners and fancy dress heroes at Leeds Abbey Dash 2019

Thousands of people got their running shoes on for the 34th Leeds Abbey Dash run this morning.

There were three races, filled with people of all ages and abilities, that followed the 10km route from Leeds City Centre to Kirkstall Abbey and back.

The junior race set off at 8.10am, followed by the wheelchair race at 8.55am and the main Abbey Dash race got off at 9.30am.

Leeds Rhinos mascot Ronnie the Rhino had the honour of setting the runners of - some of whom had donned some pretty spectacular fancy dress outfits of their own.

Lots of people will have been raising money for Age UK and the charity will hope to match last years' fundraising total of more than £250,000.

If you were running today you can check your time by inputting your bib number on the event's website.

You can also pay in any money you have raised for the charity on the website.
