Parents-to-be consider various things when choosing a name for their baby, from how it would work when they’re an adult, to whether it fits with their surname.
After all, it’s with them forever.
But, have they ever considered how choosing a name could impact their child’s salary in the future?

New data by sustainable baby retailer Finn + Emma has revealed which 2021 baby names are destined for an impressive pay cheque in later life. The data was produced through an analysis of the most popular boys and girls names this year, compared using jobs search engine Adzunas salary tool, in an attempt to unveil who is set to earn the most.
Popular name ‘Isla’ came out on top for the girls in earning ranks, with an expected salary of £48k. In second place, and arguably a consequence of the popularity of the viral TikTok star, ‘Addison’ came in with £41k, while ‘Luna’ placed third with £37k.
Other names securing a place in the top 10 included Ava, Lily, and Madison, with Scarlett placing last.
The highest earner for the boys was proven to be ‘Mason’, predicted to take home around £60k. Second place was taken by ‘Hudson’, while third place was popular name ‘Christopher’. The boys’ top 10 also included Noah, Isaac, and Oliver.
In comparison to the same study undertaken in 2017, the new data shows the pay gap between the male and female earnings to be slowly getting smaller. In 2017, the highest earning girl’s name was at £39k, while the boy’s was at a contrasting £61k.
