40,000 phone chargers urgently recalled in Ireland due to 'serious risk' of electric shock

A fast charging plug has been recalled in Ireland due to posing a "serious risk" of harm to owners.

Homeline's Ultrapower JL-U561 Fast Charging Plug with Double USB Ports, Home Charger (2.4A) has a fault caused by poor isolation between the Mains Input & USB Output that may result in electric shock.

Ireland consumer watchdog the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) published a recall notice for the product on Sunday. They stated that there are approximately 40,000 affected products in the Republic of Ireland which have been purchased from various retailers.
