
A MAN accused of driving unlicenced and crashing into a Port Stephens home, causing $40,000 in damage, will face court on Sunday.
Police were patrolling in Raymond Terrace about 9.20pm on Saturday after receiving reports of a suspicious vehicle.
Officers saw a silver Holden Commodore on Links Road driving off in the opposite direction.
It was found again a short time later, crashed into a property on Scotts Close.
"The crash caused extensive damage to the front concrete veranda of the home, estimated to be valued at more than $40,000," police said in a statement.
The driver, 23, was arrested and taken to the John Hunter Hospital for mandatory testing.
He was later taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station.
The 23-year-old was charged with drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, never licensed person drive vehicle on road and use unregistered registrable class A motor vehicle on road.
He was refused bail and was due to face Newcastle Bail Court on Sunday.
Police said inquiries are ongoing.
