March 14--Four people have been wounded, including a woman left in critical condition, in shooting attacks on the South and West sides since early Sunday afternoon, police said.
The woman and a man were shot in the 9600 block of South Brennan Avenue in the Jeffery Manor neighborhood at 3:45 p.m., said Officer Dennis Quaid, a police spokesman. The 27-year-old woman was shot in the chest and stomach and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition. A 29-year-old man was shot in the left leg and taken to Christ Medical Center where his condition was stabilized.
A witness said the victims were standing on the corner when a masked attacker in an vehicle drove past and fired several shots, hitting the two victims. Area detectives were investigating.
Earlier in the Park Manor neighborhood, an 18-year-old man was shot in the right arm in the 7000 block of South Eberhart Avenue at 3:27 p.m. He was taken to an area hospital in good condition. He was accidentally shot and the person who shot him is being questioned, police said.
A 16-year-old boy was wounded earlier Sunday afternoon in a shooting in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, near the Englewood border.
The shooting happened shortly before 2 p.m. in the 5400 block of South Bishop Street, Quaid said.
The victim, who was shot in the leg, was taken in good condition to Comer Children's Hospital, Quaid said.
Police were investigating.
