Oct. 22--At least seven people were wounded in shootings citywide since mid-morning Wednesday, Chicago police said.
The latest shooting occurred at 10:50 p.m. in the Hermosa neighborhood, police said.
A 29-year-old man was driving in the 4600 block of West Palmer Street when three people came up and fired in his direction, said police spokeswoman Officer Amina Greer.
He was shot in the back and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition.
At 8:12 p.m., a 26-year-old man was shot in the Rogers Park neighborhood, police said.
He was in the 1900 block of West Birchwood Avenue when he was shot in the chest, said Officer Nicole Trainor, a police spokeswoman. He was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in serious condition.
At 7:34 p.m. a 21-year-old man was shot in West Chesterfield, Trainor said.
He was in the 8700 block of South Wabash Avenue when he was shot in the head. He was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
Just after 7 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was shot in the Cottage Grove Heights neighborhood, Trainor said.
He was in the 9600 block of South Greenwood Avenue when a vehicle drove through an alley and someone inside fired shots. The boy was hit in the hand and went to Advocate Trinity Hospital in good condition.
Just after 4 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was shot in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood, Trainor said.
He was in the 900 block of North Keeler Avenue when he was shot in the back. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, and his condition was stabilized.
At about 1:45 p.m., a 21-year-old man was shot in the Gresham neighborhood, police said.
He went to Little Company of Mary Hospital and said he was walking in the 1100 block of West 88th Street when he heard shots and felt pain. He was shot in the shoulder and listed in good condition, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a police spokeswoman.
At 9:30 a.m., a 21-year-old man was shot in the Rosemoor neighborhood, about one block away from where another man was shot to death over the weekend.
The man told police he was in the 10500 block of South Prairie Avenue when someone in what was believed to be a gray vehicle drove up and fired shots, then drove off, police said.
He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was in fair condition with gunshot wounds to the right leg, abdomen and buttocks, Lemmon said.
