The battle at wide receiver in training camp and the preseason is one of the more intriguing battles to pay attention to for the Arizona Cardinals. They have a new offense where the receivers will be featured and they added many new players to the group, drafting three and bringing in a pair in free agency.
As many project who could make the team, there are four players who could make things very interesting.
Kevin White

White has had a bust of a career so far as a former top-10 pick in the draft. However, he has more talent than perhaps any other receiver on the roster. He has size, speed and playmaking ability. If he stays healthy and puts it together, he could be special and would be a given on the roster.
Damiere Byrd

Byrd’s speed is hard to ignore. His signing in the offseason got almost no attention but he impressed in the offseason. He is small and super fast. He got some looks in offseason work with the first team. If he is consistent and produces, he will be hard to keep off the roster.
Trent Sherfield

Sherfield was the talk of last offseason, as he made the team as an undrafted rookie. While he carries with him the stigma of last season, he showed some flashes. He also proved his worth on special teams as well.
Having overcome many odds to make the team a year ago, his determination is hard to ignore. In his locker is a written goal — be a starter in Week 1. He is not considered a favorite to make the team but he isn’t a player one should doubt.
Pharoh Cooper

Cooper’s spot on the roster likely has little to do with his play at receiver. The situation at the returner positions is uncertain. Cooper was a Pro Bowl and All-Pro return specialist in 2017. If he shows that sort of potential again, it could make him very relevant for a roster spot, which could cost another receiver a spot on the roster.
