4 ways to raise self-sufficient kids

In order to survive, a person must be able to be independent and self-reliant. On their first day of school, everyone starts their path toward independence, which only gets stronger over the course of a person's lifetime.

Vijay Kumar Agarwal, parenting expert, CEO, Makoons says, “If you want your children to be self-assured and independent adults, you must start teaching independence to them at a young age. In order to support this quality in our young students, parents and educators have to devote a lot of time and effort to a variety of strategies.”

Give them simple tasks

“By giving them options that are age-appropriate, we can help them make decisions. Simple, manageable tasks also help them become responsible adults,” says Agarwal.

Teach by example

Children quickly pick things up and begin thinking independently when given the opportunity to practice problem-solving techniques through supervised exploration and trial-and-error activities.

Advice them

According to Agarwal, In addition to teaching children about how to make straightforward, well-balanced meals, we also instruct them on proper dress, good personal hygiene, and independence maintenance.

Communicate openly

It's also critical to promote open communication and empathy in children in order to aid in the development of their emotional intelligence and resilience. They'll learn to overcome obstacles and succeed in the face of failure thanks to this. They are able to better manage their emotions and understand how other people are feeling as a result.

The takeaway:

By incorporating these techniques into our parenting style, we create a nurturing and safe environment that encourages children to grow into independent, adaptable individuals, giving them the ability to meet life's challenges with independence and assurance.
