4 things to know about new Eagles redzone threat, JJ Arcega-Whiteside

The NFL is starting to get like the NBA in some senses, with winnable matchups being the name of the game for some of the top offenses in the league. The Philadelphia Eagles already have matchup nightmares in Alshon Jeffery, DeSean Jackson and Zach Ertz and have now added running back Miles Sanders and Stanford wide receiver JJ Arcega-Whiteside to the mix.

Whiteside, 6-foot-2, 225 pounds, is a matchup nightmare in the red zone and here are four things to know about Carson Wentz’ newest weapon.

1. Whiteside finished his college career at Stanford with 135 catches for 2,219 yards and 28 touchdowns in three seasons.

2. The former Stanford star is a smaller, and quicker version of Alshon Jeffery when it comes to ball skills and the ability to box out defenders.

3. Whiteside was born in Spain to two professional basketball players. He was an All-State selection in football, basketball and track and field during his high school career at Dorman High in South Carolina.

4. Whiteside’s full name is Jose Joaquin Arcega-Whiteside, and he can also speak three languages (Spanish, Portuguese, English).
