4 things that stood out in second quarter of Chargers vs. Packers

The Chargers still have the lead on the Packers at the end of the half, 9-0.

Here are four things that stood out in the second quarter:

Melvin Ingram involved in the action

The first quarter saw defensive end Joey Bosa acquire a sack, but his teammate was due for his. Bosa and Ingram were lined up on the same side when they got to Rivers. The duo has done a stellar job giving quarterback Aaron Rodgers a little bit of time to throw. Rodgers has completed only six of his nine passes for 35 yards.

Slowing down Aaron Jones

Jones was one of the main focal points that the Chargers had to hone in on, and they’ve done a great job of making sure he isn’t having success. The front seven has been solid at limiting him to big plays and he hasn’t been a threat in the passing game.

Running game showing some life

For the first time since Sept. 29 against the Dolphins, the Chargers have finally surpassed 40 yards rushing yards in a single game. Los Angeles has had a lot of success running the ball behind left guard Dan Feeney and center Scott Quessenberry. Running back Austin Ekeler has led the pack with four carries for 36 yards.

Need points

The Chargers’ red-zone efficiency was a big concern coming into the game and it’s still been a bit questionable. They’ve had multiple opportunities to find the end zone, but have been held to three field goals. Overall, the play-calling has been efficient, which has gotten them into scoring position. But they need to capitalize in the second half.
