4 Teens Were Charged With 44 Offences Including Attempted Murder Of Wallabies Icon Toutai Kefu

Four teenagers have now been charged with a total of 44 offences, including the attempted murder of ex-Wallabies player Toutai Kefu.

On Monday, Kefu and three of his family members were allegedly attacked with a knife, axe and machete in their Cooraparoo home in Brisbane. The Wallabies player, his wife, daughter and son were all hospitalised and had to undergo surgery after the alleged home invasion, according to the ABC.

Four boys aged 15 and one aged 13 have now been charged with 11 offences each. They have been charged with four counts of attempted murder, three of grievous bodily harm and one count each of deprivation of liberty, burglary, enter dwelling with intent whilst armed and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Kefu has since returned home, along with his two children. However, his wife remains in hospital after sustaining serious lacerations to her arm.

Toutai Kefu thanked the community for their support on Facebook.

“Wow. Humbling to see the outpouring of love and well wishes from family, friends, community members and the general public,” Kefu wrote.

“We are all doing well. Josh, Madi and myself are out of hospital and we’re hoping Rach will be able to join us tomorrow.

“We just want to say thank you for everyone’s support, we feel very lucky and grateful.”

Kefu played 60 tests for the Wallabies and is currently the coach of the Tonga national team.

The four boys charged over the attack will appear before the Brisbane Children’s Court and have been denied bail. Police believe it was not a targeted attack.
