1. Luis Robert continues to pulverize the baseball.
Luis Robert met with reporters on a conference call Sunday afternoon, a day after he hit two long-distance home runs in an intrasquad game at Guaranteed Rate Field.
The first, against Kelvin Herrera, went to straight-away center. The second, against Steve Cishek, nearly landed on the left-field concourse.
"I made solid contact on those two homers," Robert said through an interpreter, "but the first one, to center field, is the one I feel better about."
Robert batted sixth against the Cubs and went 2-for-3 with an RBI. He struck out in the second and singled to right in the fourth. He was thrown out trying to steal second.
He drove in a run with a double to center during the six-run fifth inning.
"I think that he's going to be an absolute beast for the next 10 to 20 years," Sox pitcher Lucas Giolito said before Sunday's game. "I'm excited he's on our team."
