The Philadelphia Eagles re-signed popular defensive end, Vinny Curry, on Friday, giving him a one-year, $2 million deal with $1.3 million guaranteed.
The Eagles just added versatility to one of the NFL’s toughest defensive lines and with Curry back in the fold, here are four takeaways from the move.

1. Curry adds efficiency for low value
Curry re-signed for $2 million, but when he played and received snaps last season he was just as good as his running mates. As a rotational pass rusher, Curry produced five sacks in 16 games and graded out at 77.9 overall and almost 80(79.8) as a pass rusher.
2. Eagles have options outside of Brandon Graham
With Curry back, the Eagles will have a defensive end rotation of Graham and Barnett, along with Curry and Josh Sweat. Genard Avery will also hop in the mix along with Malik Jackson who could see more time at end, while Curry could also see significant time at tackle.
3. Covid-19
The coronavirus pandemic will cause a need for value and familiarity on the roster. With Curry returning, it provides insurance along the defensive line in case one of the defensive ends test positive or worse if Fletcher Cox or Javon Hargrave were to be infected as well.
4. Curry turned down other offers
Curry will be the Eagles third or fourth defensive end and Geoff Mosher is reporting that he turned down other offers stay near his New Jersey home.
