4 takeaways from the Philadelphia Eagles 2020 schedule release

The Philadelphia Eagles and their fans finally learned when and where they’ll be playing during the 2020 NFL season and the schedule release was favorable for a team looking to defend their NFC East crown.

The Eagles have one of the league’s easiest schedules based on 2019 results and they could finish this upcoming season with an even better record.

1. Eagles have an opportunity for a strong start

The Birds will open up against the rebuilding Redskins on the road, followed by two straight home games before traveling to San Francisco for Sunday night football. Expectations aren’t too stressful this season but anything short of a 3-1 start could be cause for concern.

Check out game-by-game score predictions from around the NFL Wires network:

Buf / Mia / NE / NYJ // Bal / Cin / Cle / Pit // Hou / Ind / Jax / Ten // Den / KC / LV / LAC //// Dal / NYG / Phi / Was // Chi / Det / GB / Min // Atl / Car / NO / TB // Ari / LAR / SF / Sea

2. Wentz should start fast like 2017 MVP*

The Eagles quarterback seems primed for a huge season despite the presence of Jalen Hurts and the first half of the schedule gives Wentz a chance to garner early MVP votes if the Birds can get off to a good start.

Wentz will face the rebuilding Redskins (once), Giants (twice), Bengals and Rams in the Eagles first ten games. He’ll also face talented defenses in the Steelers, Ravens, 49ers, and Cowboys.

3. The tough three-game road stretch

The Eagles bye comes at Week 9, they’ll return to face the Giants and Browns before embarking on a brutal three-game stretch that includes the Seahawks, Saints, and Packers, all 2019 playoff teams.

It’ll be imperative for the Eagles to get off to a solid start, allowing the Birds room for possible mishaps as the season winds down.

4. Eagles must finish strong

The setup isn’t the same as last season, but the Eagles will again be put into a position to control their own destiny down the stretch. In the midst of that brutal three-game stretch is an opportunity for the Birds to stamp their ticket to the playoffs while vying for a top seed.

In the final six weeks of the season, the Eagles will host Seattle on a Monday night (Week 12), travel to Green Bay (Week 13), host the New Orleans Saints (Week 14), travel to face the Arizona Cardinals (Week 15) and Dallas Cowboys (Week 16) before playing the season finale against the Redskins at home (Week 17).

That’s six NFC games against four teams that’ll definitely be in the playoff mix. Wins against the Cardinals could dictate both team’s playoff chances while the season finale offers the Eagles an opportunity to finish on a positive note in front of their home fans.
