The Philadelphia Eagles rewarded Brandon Brooks for his dominant play, signing the Pro Bowl right guard to a four-year, $54.2 million extension.
According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, the deal makes Brooks the highest-paid guard in the NFL.
With the Eagles set to battle the New England Patriots at home on Sunday, here are four takeaways from the massive deal.
***
1. Brooks has been ELITE
The Eagles star is currently ranked number one among guards with a 93.4 overall grade this season and he’s only allowed just one sack in his last 59 games played.

2. Eagles have their main pieces locked up
With the extension for Brooks, the Birds have all of their current starters (Jason Peters is injured) locked up through at least 2021.
3. Brooks got better after tearing his Achilles
Brooks has yet to allow a sack and two weeks ago against the Bears, he recorded an almost perfect grade of 96.6. Brooks is less than a year removed from tearing his Achilles tendon, and now according to Pro Football Focus, he’s a midseason All-Pro.
Even after returning from his injury in less than 9 months, Brooks looks even better per Fran Duffy.
4. Brooks is set to finally be an All-Pro
Despite back to back Pro-Bowl seasons and Brooks being one of the top guys at his position in the NFL, the Eagles star has never been an All-Pro. This season that will change.
Brooks has been Pro Football Focus’s top-ranked offensive lineman throughout a good portion of the season and his play would have to flatline for him to miss out on the top honor this season.
