4 takeaways from the Eagles’ OTAs, practice

The Philadelphia Eagles opened their second week of organized team activities Tuesday and with the practice was open to reporters and analyst alike, Carson Wentz looked the part for the entire afternoon. Coming on the heels of Louis Riddick’s prediction that the Eagles star would win the 2019 NFL MVP award, Wentz dazzled on Tuesday, looking sharp throughout.

Here are 4 takeaways from the practice

Carson Wentz embracing the MVP buzz:

Yes, it was OTAs with no opponent, but Wentz was on fire dropping dimes to Zach Ertz and his new favorite toy, DeSean Jackson. Wentz appears healed from both the back injury and the torn ACL that slowed his return in 2018. He’s practiced without a brace and seems prepared to rocket past the 2017 form that saw him post MVP stats before suffering the injury. Wentz best pass of the day was this dart to tight end, Zach Ertz.

DeSean Jackson is primed for a huge season

DeSean Jackson and Wentz aren’t taking their time in building chemistry and rapport, as you can see that both players have an extra bounce in their step because of what can be this season. Jackson looks as fast as he’s ever been, and he’s looking even more polished this go-round. Jackson will get work in all facets of the passing game and these OTA reps are going to lay the foundation for huge plays from Wentz and Jackson in 2019.

JJ Arcega-Whiteside made the catch of the day:

The rookie wide receiver out of Stanford is going to be a problem for opposing defenses as a rookie because his greatest asset, winning the battle for the ball, is already in veteran form. The rookie caught a red zone bullet from Carson Wentz in the right corner of the end zone that was considered the catch of the day.

Miles Sanders has yet to rev up:

The rookie running back from Penn State did not practice last week, and that was the case on Tuesday as he again was spotted in just a helmet and visor. Sanders has been mentioned in Fantasy Football circles and by analyst as a player to watch, but he’s missing valuable reps as camp approaches.
