4 takeaways for Cardinals from Daniel Jeremiah’s top-50 prospects

As the NFL draft approaches in the next three months, we will see top prospects lists and big boards all over the Internet to see where potential prospects rank in relation to each other.

NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah published his most recent rankings of the top 50 prospects in the 2020 draft.

What can we learn from the list?

There some top quarterback prospects and it is believed the receiver class is very talented and very deep. However, at the top of the draft, it is loaded with defensive talent. Jeremiah has five defensive players in his top seven. With the Cardinals picking eighth overall, it is possible they could land one of those players because of quarterbacks going ahead of them.

Did we mention the receiving class loaded?

Nine of Jeremiah’s top 50 are receivers. Two are in the top 10. Three are in the top 15 and five are in the top 20. Many want to see the Cardinals take a receiver with the eighth pick. That certainly is a possibility, especially with talented players like Jerry Jeudy and CeeDee Lamb on the board. However, they could wait and take a receiver later on and still get a top player.

Andrew Thomas rated much lower than others have him

Thomas is viewed by some as the top tackle in the draft. He is mocked to the Cardinals frequently with the eighth overall pick. Jeremiah doesn’t like him nearly as much as he likes other tackles. He comes in at No. 25 on this list and is rated behind three other tackles.

Five defensive players and two quarterbacks are ranked 1-7 by Jeremiah. His next five prospects are either tackles or receivers. It is largely believed right now the Cardinals will either take a tackle or receiver.

Jerry Jeudy, CeeDee Lamb and Henry Ruggs III are the receivers. Mekhi Becton and Jedrick Wills are the tackles.
