4 Super Bowl LIV best bets and long shot picks

The Kansas City Chiefs open the 2019 NFL regular season as betting favorites to win Super Bowl LIV in Miami, but FTW staffers aren’t backing Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid to deliver a title in 2020.

On the first day of the season, FTW NFL analysts submitted their best bets and long shots to win Super Bowl LIV.

Steven Ruiz: Patriots (+600)

A boring pick, sure, but the Patriots have the best coach, the best quarterback and the best defensive. The offensive line is one of the best in the league, both in pass protection and in the run game, and the receiving corps looks good now that Josh Gordon has been cleared to play. I’m having a hard time finding a weakness.

Long shot pick: Falcons (+3000)

Charles Curtis: Chargers (+1400)

They check all the boxes: Solid offense, elite defense, good quarterback, fantastic odds. The only problem? The Chiefs and Patriots might be better. But there’s so much to love here that spending a few bucks might pay off nicely.

Long shot pick: Falcons (+3000)

Henry McKenna: Saints (+1200)

The Saints feel wronged after the NFC championship gaffe. They’ll use it as motivation to get back into that game, and this time they’ll advance to the Super Bowl. Drew Brees and Sean Payton are profound talents. Their supporting characters are even more impressive than last season.
Long shot pick: Falcons (+3000)

Nick Schwartz: Eagles (+1200)

The Eagles’ roster is loaded on both sides, and the only real question mark is whether a quarterback who was a Week 14 injury away from the 2017 NFL MVP award can remain healthy. In a sport where every player is one hit away from a season-ending malady, I’m going to assume Carson Wentz is as likely to finish the season as any other quarterback – and when he’s in the game, he’ll have a full arsenal of weapons to work with, a great offensive line, and will be backed up by a top-12 defense.
Long shot pick: Texans (+5000)
