After losing to the Saints last Saturday, the Jets were able to finish off their preseason at .500 after knocking off the Eagles, 6-0, on Thursday night.
In the team’s final game before next Sunday’s opener against Buffalo, the Jets slowly dragged out a win thanks to an impressive performance from their defense. The Jets defense forced multiple turnovers to set up two scores. Unfortunately, they missed three field goals on the night, otherwise, the margin of victory would’ve been higher.
As is oftentimes the case with the preseason, other elements of the game stand out more than the final score. What’s more captivating than anything else are some of the numbers that popped up in the box score.
With that being said, here are four strange stats from the Jets’ preseason finale.
Jets Preseason History

The Jets made history in their 6-0 victory against the Eagles.
The six points were the fewest the Jets have ever scored during a preseason game in the team’s history. They had scored 10 and seven points in previous contests, but never six. The lack of offense speaks to the fact that most of the Jets third- and fourth-string players were starting.
An Impolite Night

Jachai Polite’s disappointing preseason came to a lackluster end on Thursday night.
Polite played 16 snaps and only provided an assist on a tackle-for-loss. To be fair to Polite, he has not been playing in position, but with Brandon Copeland suspended, he had a chance to step up and didn’t.
Should Polite survive cut day, it appears his rookie season will be more of a developmental one than the Jets were hoping for.
79 Percent of Passes Completed

While New York only managed to score six points, its passers were very precise on Thursday night.
Luke Falk, Trevor Siemian and Davis Webb combined to complete 36-46 passes. The three passers combined for a 79 percent completion percentage. Falk and Siemian impressed with their accuracy, while Webb threw two interceptions.
Sack Attack

Jets UDFA DL Kyle Phillips sacked Eagles QB Clayton Thorson twice on Thursday.
Per team reporter Randy Lange, Phillips became the first Jet with two sacks in a preseason game since LB Garrett McIntyre had two against the Texans in 2011. Phillips is the first to do it at home since Calvin Pace had two against the Giants in 2008.
