4-Star DE Darris Smith announces later signing date

The Georgia Bulldogs have already secured a commitment from four-star recruit Darris Smith, who is a talented in-state defensive end. Smith plays for Appling County High School in Baxley, Georgia. Baxley is located in the southern part of Georgia.

Darris Smith is a member of the class of 2022 and plans to sign with the University of Georgia on Feb. 2. The 6-foot-6, 225-pound edge rusher may have a chance to play right away for the Bulldogs.

Smith additionally plays basketball, so it is understandable that he wants to finish his basketball career with Appling as opposed to signing during the early signing period and enrolling early in Athens.

Smith has received scholarship offers from numerous major college football programs including Tennessee, UNC, Auburn, Michigan State and South Carolina. Smith will likely play as an outside linebacker in Georgia’s 3-4 defensive scheme.

Smith announced his signing date with UGA via his Twitter account:
