4 QBs drafted in Round 1 as Colts stay put at No. 34

For a moment, it seemed there might be a chance the Indianapolis Colts trade up into the back-end of the first round of the 2020 NFL draft. However, they stayed put at No. 34 as four quarterbacks were selected on the first night of the offseason’s biggest event.

As three quarterbacks went inside the top-10 (Joe Burrow at No. 1, Tua Tagovailoa at No. 5 and Justin Herbert at No. 6), there was a moment of intrigue as there seemed to be a chance the Colts might trade up for Utah State’s Jordan Love, who was falling late into the first round.

However, the Colts stayed put at the No. 34 pick as they saw the Green Bay Packers move up four spots to grab Love, certainly one of the bigger surprises of the night.

With four quarterbacks going on the first night and the Colts staying put, they can still address the position early in the second round. However, without a whole lot of upside at available at the position, it could mean the Colts look elsewhere in the class to make their pick.

Or in what would be a more expected move, the Colts can move back from No. 34 while adding a few picks and making their first selection at No. 44.

It will be interesting to see what the Colts plan on doing for the remainder of the draft. But they are now looking at the riskier part of the quarterback class after staying put at No. 34.
