The Arizona Cardinals will kick off Day 2 of the NFL draft on Friday and have a number of talented players available to select. If they are looking for a defensive back, some good ones are on the board and might be good fits.
Washington CB Byron Murphy
Murphy was believed by many to be the best cornerback in the draft. The Cardinals do like Washington defensive backs. In 2018, he picked off four passes, broke up 13 others and had 58 total tackles, four for a loss. he can play outside and in the slot and can play man coverage.
Oh, he is also a local product, having played high school ball in Arizona, which also makes him a match for the Cardinals in this offseason of adding hometown players.
LSU CB Greedy Williams
Williams surprisingly was not taken in the first round. LSU has a long history of impact defensive backs. He has length, speed and can take the ball away. He had six interceptions in 2017.
Washington S Taylor Rapp
The Cardinals scouted a lot of safeties even though they do not have a need at the position. They have had good production from Washington safeties, as Budda Baker is a budding star and Zeke Turner was a special teams stud. Rapp is versatile and physical.
Florida DB Chauncey Gardner-Johnson
Gardner-Johnson can play in the slot and at safety. He had 71 tackles, nine for loss, three sacks, a team-high four interceptions and two pass breakups in 2018. He also plays special teams.
