4 Minivans To Buy in 2026 That Will Last Throughout Retirement

Honda

When compared to an SUV, a minivan is in its own class with its sliding doors, lower step-in height and enough extra space without feeling oversized. For some retirees, it’s simply a better choice.

Features matter, but not every minivan is built to last through retirement. If that’s your goal, here are some of the best ones to purchase in 2026, according to Car and Driver

2026 Toyota Sienna Hybrid

  • Starting MSRP: $41,915

Retirees who are looking for a minivan with the best fuel economy will be impressed by the 2026 Toyota Sienna Hybrid. Although Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) fuel data isn’t available for this model, it’s expected to be similar to the 2025 model, with 36 mpg for both city and highway driving.

Standard safety features include 10 airbags and driver-assist features such as blind-spot alerts, rear cross-traffic warnings and Toyota Safety Sense 2.0. The Sienna also includes a three-year or 36,000-mile limited warranty, a five-year or 60,000-mile powertrain warranty and a 10-year or 150,000-mile hybrid-component warranty. Two years or 25,000 miles of complimentary maintenance are also included.

2026 Kia Carnival

  • Starting MSRP: $38,935

The Kia Carnival has a more compact, SUV-type styling than larger minivans, as the starting price reflects. Yet, it’s still comfortable and boasts plenty of space behind the third row.

EPA numbers for 2026 aren’t out yet, but the 2025 model rated 18 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. Safety features like automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist and blind-spot monitoring come standard. Kia’s long 10-year or 100,000-mile powertrain warranty is appealing for retirees planning to keep the van, but there’s no free maintenance included.

2026 Honda Odyssey

  • Starting MSRP: $44,290

The Honda Odyssey seats up to eight and offers a Magic Slide seat in the second row that can reconfigure from a bench seat to captain’s chairs. Additionally, the third row folds down when more cargo space is needed.

Predicted fuel economy for the 2026 Honda Odyssey is based on the 2025 model at 19 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. Standard safety features include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist and lane departure warning. Warranty coverage includes a three-year or 36,000-mile limited warranty and a five-year or 60,000-mile powertrain warranty. The Odyssey also includes one year or 12,000 miles of complimentary maintenance.

2026 Chrysler Pacifica

  • Starting MSRP: $45,940

The Chrysler Pacifica comes in either a gas model or a plug-in hybrid. Fuel economy data is likely similar to the 2025 model at 19 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. The gas-model Pacifica offers second-row Stow ‘n Go seats that fold into the floor, providing extra cargo space.

Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control. Limited warranty coverage on the gas model is average at three years or 36,000 miles, but the hybrid components are covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. No complimentary scheduled maintenance is included.
