Four men threaten elderly couple with metal bar after smashing into Top Valley home

Police are appealing for information after burglars targeted the home of an elderly couple.

The incident happened on Saturday, January 18 when four men with their faces covered knocked on the door of an elderly couple's home on Dunvegan Drive in Rise Park near Top Valley.

The men then smashed a kitchen door window and went inside.

Officers said one of the men threatened the couple with a metal bar, keeping them in their living room while the other offenders searched the property.

The suspects left with a quantity of cash and jewellery.

Detective Sergeant Lee Cattell, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "Thankfully the victims were not injured during this frightening incident but they were left very distressed by what happened.

"This incident happened on a relatively busy road at 6pm when people may have been getting home from work.

"We're urging anyone who saw or heard anything around the time of the incident or any drivers who may have recorded dashcam footage to please get in touch with us.

"Any information you have, no matter how small, could be invaluable to our ongoing investigation."

Anyone with any information about the incident is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 700 of 18 January 2020, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
