June 20--Four men were wounded in separate shootings since Friday afternoon on the South and West sides, police said.
Most recently, a 37-year-old man was wounded in a shooting around 2:15 a.m. Saturday in the North Austin neighborhood on the West Side, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago police spokesman.
The man was walking with friends in the 5700 block of West Bloomingdale Avenue when someone came out of a vehicle and fired at the group, Estrada said.
The man was hit in the forearm and taken in good condition to West Suburban Medical Center.
Around 11:15 p.m. Friday, a 23-year-old man walked into St. Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center after being shot in the West Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side, said Officer Amina Greer, a Chicago police spokeswoman.
The man told police he was talking in the 6400 block of South Vernon Avenue when an attacker approached from a gangway and fired, striking him in the leg, Greer said.
The man's friend drove him to St. Bernard, where his condition stabilized, Greer said.
Around 5:40 p.m. Friday, a 21-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side, Greer said.
The man was walking in the 11800 block of South Perry Avenue when shots were fired and he was struck in the hip, Greer said.
The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition stabilized.
Around 12:45 p.m. Friday, a 19-year-old man was hurt in a shooting in the Burnside neighborhood, Greer said.
The man was in the 700 block of East 92nd Place when he started arguing with someone, who then took out a handgun and fired, Greer said.
The man was wounded in the leg and was taken to Advocate Christ, where his condition stabilized.
As of early Saturday, no one was in custody in connection with the shootings.
