Sept. 10--Four men have been wounded in separate shootings since Wednesday evening on the South and Southwest sides, police said.
Most recently, a 22-year-old man was shot in the leg around 4:05 a.m. Thursday in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side, said Officer Amina Greer, a Chicago Police Department spokeswoman.
Officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 4800 block of South Calumet Avenue and found the man bleeding on the ground. He was taken to Stroger Hospital where his condition stabilized, Greer said.
At the shooting scene, a blood trail snaked for over 40 feet from the intersection of 48th Street and Calumet Avenue to the middle of an empty lot on the northwest corner where the man was found.
A nearby resident said he heard around one gunshot while he was inside his home.
About 11 p.m. Wednesday, a 21-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, Greer said.
The man was standing on a sidewalk in the 6800 block of South Perry Avenue when someone fired shots at him from a passing minivan, Greer said.
The man was shot in the arm and taken to Stroger Hospital in fair condition, Greer said.
Three minutes earlier, an 18-year-old man was seriously wounded in a shooting in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.
The man was on the porch of a home in the 5300 block of South Hermitage Avenue when a male attacker approached and started firing shots, Gaines said.
The man was shot in the back, finger and buttocks and taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, Gaines said.
Earlier, an 18-year-old man was shot in the Ashburn neighborhood, police said. The shooting happened at about 5 p.m. in the 3400 block of West 79th Street, said Officer Veejay Zala, a police spokesman.
The man was shot in the groin, and his condition had stabilized at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Zala said.
The man was outside when someone came out of a nearby gangway and fired shots, then fled, Zala said. No one was in custody.
