PUNE: Four men brutally attacked 26-year-old Sonu Sunil Shinde in the parking of his housing society in Ramwadi with a sharp weapon on Wednesday and later damaged three motorcycles, a car, and two autorickshaws over old rivalry.
Shinde sustained a cut to his nape and he was discharged from the hospital after primary treatment, police said.
A case of attempt to murder, abuse and other offences has been registered by the Yerawada police against the four men. Two attackers are criminals on police record, and all four are on the run, police said.
Senior inspector Yunus Shaikh of Yerawada police told TOI, “The group and Shinde, who runs a transport business, do not have any connection or rivalry. However, a group of youngsters in the building has a rivalry with the four attackers. The groups had fought two years ago during Holi.”
The four men started damaging two-wheelers and they attacked Shinde when he tried to stop them. He ran away. The men damaged other vehicles. After they left, the residents and Shinde approached police.
