Sunday marked one of the most embarrassing losses in New York Jets history.
In Adam Gase’s return to Miami, he was outmaneuvered and out-coached by a Dolphins organization that is intentionally not to lose games. Rookie head coach Brian Flores received a Gatorade bath after winning his first NFL game, something that seemed unlikely to happen before 2020.
Miami’s first win of the season brought the Jets even more negative attention in the midst of a horrific season. It also brought about some interesting stats.
Let’a take a look.
Darnold under pressure

Sam Darnold was 3-10 and threw an interception when facing the Dolphins blitz in the Jets’ 26-18 loss on Sunday.
Over his last three games, Darnold is 17-36 with no touchdowns and six interceptions when facing the blitz, per ESPN Stats and Info.
On paper, Darnold’s numbers looked pretty good across the board. But make no mistake, the quarterback has significantly regressed under Adam Gase’s tutelage. He went 27-39, throwing for 260 yards with a touchdown and an interception at the goal line.
Did you get my text?

There is no question that Le’Veon Bell was unhappy with his usage following the Jets’ loss to Jacksonville last week.
Bell touched the ball 11 times for 35 yards. Upset with his role, he texted his head coach. Against the Dolphins, Adam Gase happily obliged.
Bell ran 17 times for 66 yards and caught eight passes for 55 yards. He received a total of 25 touches, 14 more than last week. Bell was featured, but the yards on the ground weren’t easy to come by. Still, the Jets force fed Bell and it didn’t appear to be very effective.
Losing Culture

So much for a culture change.
After losing to the winless Dolphins, the Jets dropped to 1-7 on the season. New York is now 2-16 in its last 18 games. Adam Gase was the one who was supposed to take the Jets in the right direction, but so far they’ve only gone backward.
Too Much Change

The Jets dressed 11 players on Sunday, who weren’t on the opening day 46 man roster. They started their fourth different offensive line combination on Sunday.
This marks a sign of a bad team and it showed on Sunday. Sam Darnold was under constant duress and nothing the Jets do seems to be able to remedy the blitz.
