The Jets entered Week 6 looking nothing like a team riding a four-game losing streak.
Sam Darnold came back from his bout with mono and rejuvenated New York’s offense. The Jets took advantage of the Cowboys missing multiple starters and were able to sneak away with a two-point victory. The win wasn’t flawless, but all three facets of the team made plays when called upon.
An Adam Gase coached team finally resembled the competitiveness they featured all summer long. Gase was able to win his first game as the Jets’ head coach and he pulled out all the stops for Darnold, who arguably looked the best he’s ever had, minus one throw.
As the Jets pulled off an upset victory at home, some eye-opening numbers did stem from New York’s first win of the season. Here are the four most interesting stats from Week 6.
Team History

Sam Darnold’s 92-yard touchdown pass to Robby Anderson was good enough for the second-longest play in team history.
Ken O’Brien to Wesley Walker for 96 yards in 1985 is the only longer touchdown in the history of the franchise. The catch and throw respectively were both the longest completion of Darnold’s career and the longest reception of Anderson’s career to date.
Nearly a year without a home win

It took 364 days, but the Jets finally did it.
Sunday marked the Jets’ first win at MetLife Stadium since Oct. 14, 2018, when they defeated the Colts 42-34.
Their previous win was on the day they honored their Super Bowl III team. Sunday, they honored their all-time team. It seems like Joe Namath may just be a good luck charm.
Bell breaks through

Le’Veon Bell’s rushing touchdown is the first offensive touchdown scored by the Jets in the first half this season. Every other team had at least two entering Sunday, per ESPN Stats and Info.
Bell’s first-quarter rushing touchdown was his first of the season and New York’s second rushing TD of the season. Entering the day, only the Miami Dolphins had fewer.
Where was DeMarcus Lawrence?

After watching the Jets’ dismal performance against the Browns on Monday Night Football, Cowboys edge rusher DeMarcus Lawrence took to Twitter to express his excitement about getting to play the Jets in Week 6.
The Jets? They left Lawrence speechless, holding him to two tackles, zero sacks and zero quarterback hits in Sunday’s 24-22 victory. New York came into the game having allowed 23 sacks, which is the most in the NFL. On Sunday, they buckled down and made one of the most feared pass-rushers in the game look pedestrian.
