4 interesting stats from Jets’ Week 10 win over Giants

The Jets weren’t perfect Sunday, but they came from behind and beat the Giants, 34-27.

After three consecutive weeks of losing, Sam Darnold turned in his best performance since the Dallas game, throwing no interceptions on the day. Jamal Adams had one of the best games of his young career, while the defense made big stops when it needed to, especially in the trenches.

Let’s take a look at some interesting stats from Gang Green’s second win of the season.

Sam Darnold became the first player with a passing touchdown and rushing touchdown in the first quarter of a game this season.

The last player to complete this feat was Bills quarterback Josh Allen in Week 17 of the 2018 season against the Dolphins, per ESPN Stats and Info.

Darnold went 19-30 passing for 230 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. He also ran the ball three times for 25 yards and a two-yard score.

The 1-7 Falcons, Jets and Dolphins all were victorious on Sunday

This is the fifth time in the Super Bowl era that three teams with one win or fewer won in Week 10 or later and the first time since Week 10 in 2013, per ESPN Stats and Info.

Back-to-Back

Sunday was the first time the Jets scored a touchdown on their first two offensive drives of the game since a Week 2 loss to the Packers in 2014.

The Jets took a 14-0 lead early on in the first quarter thanks to a Sam Darnold two-yard rush and a Jamison Crowder 23-yard touchdown reception.

The Jets scored only eight offensive touchdowns in the first 480 minutes (eight games) of the season. They were on the board with two scores in a little over 13 minutes on Sunday.

Bottling up Barkley

The Jets defense did a good job of bottling up the Giants’ most dynamic player on offense. Saquon Barkley finished Sunday’s game with one rushing yard on 13 carries.

Not only was this a career-low in rushing yards for Barkley, but it was the fewest rushing yards by any non-quarterback on 10-plus carries since Reggie Bush had -5 yards on 11 carries in a Week 9 of 2006, according to the NFL Research Media Department.
