The Philadelphia Eagles completed their first week of training camp on Saturday and a loaded roster will now start to take shape with preseasons games on the horizon and roster cuts coming soon after. With the rules changing in regards to when the Birds have to get down to the 53 man roster from 90 players, there is still time for few guys to make their mark.
With that being said, here are four Eagles players floating severely close to having their roster bubble burst:
Mack Hollins–WR
The saying goes that you can’t make the club in the tub, and Hollins is again dealing with another lower-body injury during training camp. After having sports hernia surgery in the early stages of the 2018 offseason, Hollins is dealing with another lower-body injury although it’s not his groin.
The 6’4, 221 lb pass-catcher has plenty of promise, but with JJ Arcega-Whiteside now in the fold, he may lose a roster spot by simply not being available.

Clayton Thorson–QB
The Eagles fifth-round pick out of Northwestern is struggling during his first NFL training camp and that’s putting it nicely. He got the dreaded vote of confidence from head coach Doug Pederson on Monday morning, and the young quarterback has struggled with a weak arm thus far. With Kody Kessler having NFL experience and capable of being the third quarterback, Thorson has to pick it up.

Paul Worrilow–LB
A talented linebacker and special teams ace, Worrilow’s knees may prevent him from showing and proving why he belongs on this talented roster. After missing all of last season with an ACL injury, he’s dealing with another lower-body injury that’s caused him two days of practice thus far.
Missing further time could cloud things at linebacker for the talented Worrilow.

Wendell Smallwood–RB
It’s less about what Smallwood hasn’t done and more about the numbers and usefulness in this offense. Jordan Howard and Miles Sanders are locked to make the team. Darren Sproles wasn’t brought back for one more season to not play, so he becomes the third back by default. Eagles brass love Corey Clement, so he’s back number four. Even with injuries on the roster, Smallwood will have to outperform Boston Scott, Donnel Pumphrey, and Josh Adams just to make this team.
