Four people were left homeless Wednesday after a fire tore through a house in Fernwood on the South Side.

Fire crews responded to the blaze about 2:30 a.m. in the 700 block of West 103rd Street, Chicago fire officials said. The flames burned most heavily on the second floor of the house, and were extinguished about an hour later.

Two senior citizens were taken to Roseland Hospital for an evaluation, officials said. They were in good-to-fair condition.

Four people in all were displaced as a result of the fire, officials said. Support services have been requested.
