Honda CR-V
If you’re looking for a midsize crossover, check out the Honda CR-V. The 2026 starting MSRP is $30,920. A few of the top features of the 2026 CR-V include roomy rear seats and updated technology, per Car and Driver.
“It’s hard to beat the value of a CR-V,” said Melanie Musson, auto industry expert with AutoInsurance.org. “The MSRP is workable in most middle-class budgets, but you can find less expensive SUVs. What makes the CR-V stand out is its extreme reliability and its unlikely need for expensive repairs. It depreciates slowly, so even after five years, it retains most of its value.”

Toyota RAV4
The 2026 Toyota RAV4 has a starting MSRP of $31,900, and it consistently ranks high on reliability, durability and longevity. With hybrid powertrain options, you can minimize your environmental impact while maximizing your budget. However, starting with the 2026 model, the RAV4 is available only in a hybrid and plug-in hybrid model.
“The RAV4 is affordable for middle-class buyers,” Musson said. “It comes equipped with industry-leading safety features, holds its value and is dependable. When you buy a RAV4, you can reasonably expect to drive it for 10-15 years or longer if you keep up with regular maintenance.”
Honda Civic
The 2026 Honda Civic has a starting MSRP of $24,695. It’s the epitome of luxury at this lower price point, with a sleek exterior and polished interior.
Despite the lucrative price, one drawback is that the Honda Civic doesn’t come with an all-wheel drive option. If you live in a climate with snow or need an off-road option, the Honda Civic might not be for you.
“The Civic is a good choice because it offers a great balance of cost, comfort and long-term value compared to other cars in its class,” said Renée Martin, auto expert at Way.com. “Kelley Blue Book named the Civic the Best Compact Car to Buy, highlighting its price-to-quality ratio and long-term ownership value. The Honda Civic is also one of the best compact cars for resale value.”
Buick Envista
Like the Honda Civic, the 2026 Buick Envista starts under $30,000 at $24,700. It has a sporty and youthful look, offering an affordable alternative to the Buick Encore.
“It’s hard not to notice the Envista because of its low MSRP,” Musson said. “It has quality design and interior features, so you feel like you’re driving a much more expensive vehicle. It’s a solid contender in the market and is an excellent value.”
