The Arizona Cardinals are counting on rookie quarterback Kyler Murray to lead the team in 2019. Rookie quarterbacks often struggle and Murray will certainly have obstacles to overcome. However, assuming he is healthy, he should be in position to potentially set records for the team.
Here are some records he could be in line to break.
Rushing yards by a QB

The thing people talk about most about Murray is his elite running ability. There are two rushing records for quarterbacks. One is Charley Trippi, who rushed for 501 yards listed as a quarterback in 1951. However, he started only seven of the team’s 12 games and played in all 12. He did not play quarterback exclusively.
The other record is held by Timm Rosenbach, who started every game for the Cardinals in 1990. He rushed for 470 yards that season.
Murray potentially could blow both of those numbers away in 2019, depending on how often he uses his legs.
Wins by a rookie QB

The bar isn’t too high here. The Cardinals have not had rookie quarterbacks start many games. Josh Rosen won three games last year and Jake Plummer won three of nine starts in 1997 as a rookie.
The record is held by Matt Leinart and Neil Lomax. Both won four games as starters as a rookie.
The Cardinals are not expected to win many games but this is a record Murray could set this year.
Passing yards by a rookie

Despite Josh Rosen getting more starts than other rookie QBs, he does not hold the rookie passing record. Matt Leinart passed for 2,547 yards as a rookie in 2006.
If Murray starts every game in 2019, he will only need to average 160 passing yards per game to top that.
TD passes by rookie QB

Murray hopefully can break the team rookie record for touchdown passes. The record is held by Jake Plummer, who threw 15 touchdown passes as a rookie in 10 games in 1997. Matt Leinart in 2006 and Josh Rosen last year each threw 11 touchdown passes.
