4 burning questions after the first episode of ‘The Falcon and the Winter Solder’

This article contains spoilers from the first episode, titled “New World Order,” from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Please exit this article (and come back later) if you do not want to know plot points from that episode.

The first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier lured in viewers with a compelling opening action scene that pits The Falcon against a group of terrorists, who star in Marvel’s very first squirrel-suit chase. (Not going to lie, it was pretty awesome.)

It seemed to set the tone for this show. Seemed to. In those opening moments, the show featured some Mission Impossible-style action. And judging from the name of the show, it figured that it would blend that kind of action with buddy-cop comedy.

What the show delivered in the opening 30 minutes was far more complex and interesting. Clearly, we’ll get that high-caliber action. But this show is also interested in discussing issues of identity, race and grief.

Here are four burning questions from episode one.
