According to the National Retail Federation, shoppers plan to spend an average of $890.49 each in 2025 on holiday gifts, food, decorations and more. But if you want to make those dollars stretch further, here are the best budget-friendly stores to shop for holiday decor.
Hobby Lobby
Although Hobby Lobby, the arts and crafts chain, no longer offers its classic 40% off coupon, the retailer frequently holds sales and has deals in specific departments.
“Hobby Lobby’s original prices are about average, but it offers frequent, steep discounts, so you can usually find the decor you want for 50% off if you’re willing to wait,” Melanie Musson, retail finance expert at Quote.com, wrote in an email. “They have great material for fashioning centerpieces, decorating wreaths and wrapping packages.”

At Home
Allan Hou, global supply chain efficiency expert and the sales director of TSL Australia, recommended picking up your holiday decor from At Home.
According to Hou, At Home is a giant warehouse-style retailer that focuses on home goods. The stores are simple and open, and they don’t invest much in elaborate displays or merchandising. Because the shopping experience is pared down, operating costs stay low.
“Unlike many retailers who offer multiple deep discount events throughout the year on seasonal items (such as single ornaments), At Home does not have to price its stock at discounted levels,” Hou wrote in an email. “This is the reason why they can keep their everyday prices around $3.50 or less per item.”
He added that customers can cover 30% to 40% more square footage on the same budget versus traditional retailers.
Costco
Costco does carry Christmas and holiday decor, such as artificial trees, ornaments and decor for the home and yard at an affordable price. However, you may not find the widest selection.
“Costco doesn’t carry a wide variety of holiday decor, but what they do sell tends to be high-quality. It’s often priced far lower than other competitors for similar quality,” Musson explained.
Dollar Tree
Dollar Tree can be a hit or miss in terms of quality, but there’s no denying its affordability.
“Dollar Tree has incredible prices. The quality isn’t always great, but that’s OK for decor that doesn’t have to be handled,” Musson said. “If you have a vision for your indoor decor, you may find just the right finishing pieces at Dollar Tree.”
