4,633 new coronavirus cases in Scotland and 1,720 in Glasgow in one week as cases continue to surge

The Scottish Government have confirmed there have been 4,633 new coronavirus cases in Scotland in the past week as cases continue to surge.

Meanwhile, of those 4,633 cases, 1,720 have been recorded in the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde region.

On Sunday, a further 758 new coronavirus cases were reported across the country - 266 were recorded in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde region, with 138 in Lanarkshire.

No new deaths were reported yesterday with the overall death toll in Scotland sadly standing at 2,530.

There have been 32,209 positive coronavirus cases in Scotland since the beginning of the pandemic.

The Scottish Government confirmed that during the week ending 4 October:

  • 40,799 people newly tested – 4,633 positive
  • 110,044 tests reported (20 tests per 1,000 population)
