The Arizona Cardinals have a day off of practice on Sunday so we have the chance to check in with the rest of the NFC West and see what is going on in training camp with the Cardinals’ division rivals.
Let’s check on the San Francisco 49ers. What are the stories that Cardinals fans should know about?
Jimmy Garoppolo hasn’t turned the ball over

It is training camp, of course, but the 49ers starting quarterback apparently has yet to throw an interception in practice. He has had them dropped by defenders, though. Is this a good thing? That is the question. Does it mean he is checking down and not challenging defensive backs in practice like Kyler Murray is for the Cardinals? Are the defenders bad? Or is he really looking that good?
Another setback for Joshua Garnett

The 2016 draft has been disappointing for a few teams. The Cardinals just cut their first-round pick in Robert Nkemdiche. Guard Joshua Garnett for the 49ers has struggled to be what the team wants him to be. In a crucial fourth season, he is now out for three weeks after having surgery on his finger.
Tarvarius Moore getting first-team looks

Moore is a natural safety and is back at the position after the team tried him at cornerback. Jimmie Ward is not back healthy yet for Moore is working his way up the depth chart. He very well could end up in the starting lineup.
Where the CB battle stands

Richard Sherman is the clear No. 1 cornerback. The battle is for the No. 2 and No. 3. The battle is between Ahkiello Witherspoon and Jason Verrett. Witherspoon has been injured and Verrett is coming back from an injury.
