No bail for 3rd man charged in slaying behind Belmont Cragin Dunkin' Donuts

April 19--A judge denied bail for a third man accused of a gang-related shooting in March that left a man dead behind a Northwest Side Dunkin' Donuts.

Judge Peggy Chiampas denied bail Sunday afternoon for Alexander Gonzalez, 25, of the 11000 block of South Avenue B, who is charged with murder and possession of a controlled substance.

Gonzalez, who was injured during a crash that happened Friday during his arrest, was not in court. He was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, officials said.

Gonzalez was was identified as the third suspect involved in the shooting, in the 5200 block of Fullerton Avenue, police said.

Earlier, two brothers, Stephon Gill, 21, and Erick Gill, 23, were charged with first-degree murder in the March 25 slaying of Edgar Muneton.

About 5:30 p.m. that day, the brothers and a third person had spotted Muneton inside a Dunkin' Donuts at the Fullerton Avenue address. The trio pounded on the restaurant's window, demanding that Muneton and his friends come out, prosecutors said earlier.

When Muneton and his friends refused, the trio entered, and a fight ensued. The trio then beat Muneton and his friends, pistol-whipping two victims and hitting another with a broom and fists, prosecutors said. At one point, Erick Gill handed his younger brother the gun that was used to fatally shoot Muneton in an alley outside the Dunkin' Donuts, prosecutors said.

After the shooting, the Gills ran back into the Dunkin' Donuts and fled through a front door with the third suspect.

Earlier, prosecutors said the Gills and Gonzalez are members of the Latin Stylers street gang, and Muneton was a member of the Latin Kings street gang. The motive behind the fatal shooting was an earlier attack on a Latin Stylers member, according to the Gills.

Stephon Gill was denied bail. Erick Gill was ordered held in lieu of $2 million bail.
