GURUGRAM: The stretch between Daultabad-Dharampur road and Sarai Bajghera near the Delhi-Gurugram border is likely to undergo beautification in the coming months.
Public Works Department (PWD) officials said plantation will be undertaken along a 3.6km-long stretch of the road, which was recently widened to four lanes.
The project will cost nearly Rs 21 lakh and take about three months to complete.
“Every plant cannot survive in the conditions prevalent in the area, which tends to see a lot of pollution and dust due to the high volume of vehicular movement. We normally put bougainvillea or thevetia in such areas. However, the central verge does not have enough width for bougainvillea. So, we will put plants of the thevetia species, which are considered more hardy and can survive despite pollution,” said a senior PWD official.
He added that tenders inviting online bids have been floated. “Plantation can begin only in February since the season for it is over as of now,” said the official. The tender states that apart from the three months during which the work will be completed, the contractor will also be responsible for maintenance for a period of 26 months.
