3D mapping firm buys new office as it looks to expand

Edinburgh 3D mapping technology firm Mapix has bought a new office twice the size of its old premises after increasing headcount by 50% in a year.

The company has plans to grow the team further as demand for its products and technology is increases across all export markets. The move from a bonded warehouse in Leith to Graham Street will provide Mapix with space to accommodate its team of 12.

Mapix designs, develops and manufactures 3D mapping solutions for use on drones under the Routescene brand, and sells LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) scanners and solutions. It has customers across the UK and Europe and the Routescene brand has a focus on North America and Europe.

Director Emma Thomas said: “We’re thrilled to move into a new office that is not only larger, but also designed to meet our specific business needs. HSBC UK understands our business model and how important a functional working space is to our teams. We’re looking forward to moving into a new space that is truly fit for purpose and provides the best possible experience for our employees.”

The move has been made with help from a six-figure funding package from HSBC UK.
